HOW TO USE THE PROGRAM

It’s possible to search either by topic, such as body part or characteristic, by symptom, by keyword or by remedy. The icons at the left of the screen represent each search option.

• A search by topic allows you to scroll a list of body parts or characteristics from which you may highlight and click to view a list of related symptoms. Highlight as many symptoms as apply.
• A search by symptom allows you to either scroll a list of symptoms or use a keyword search to find the symptom you are looking for. Highlight as many symptoms as apply.
• A search by keyword allows you to enter the word you are searching for.
• A search by remedy allows you to scroll through a list of remedies and highlight one that you are interested in for a description. By scrolling down the list of symptoms you can find the one that matches your symptoms. Depending on the information you are looking for you may be presented with a number of different screen choices.

Poor Sam. As if spending the day in school wasn’t enough- now he’s come home feeling out of sorts. Luckily Mom (or Dad for that matter) happens to own RemedyGuides Software and has been looking for such an occasion to try out the new program.

Sam initially complained that his ears were uncomfortable and feeling stuffy. His hearing seemed diminished and he acted unusually fearful of ghosts and goblins at bedtime. After ruling out post-Halloween jitters, Mom noticed that Sam also complained of a dry mouth but refused to drink. With these clues in mind she turned to RemedyGuides to do the rest.

First, Mom chose to search for Sam’s symptoms using homeopathy. More specifically she clicked on the SEARCH BUTTON and typed in the word "hearing." Several symptom descriptions appeared on the screen as below.

"Diminished acute hearing"
"Hearing difficulty as if ears were stuffed"

She highlighted the first symptom and clicked "Continue." (To select two items click on the first item desired, then hold the CTRL key and left click the item)

The program displayed Pulsatilla as the remedy unique for the selected symptom.

Now to address Sam’s dry throat she decided to search by Topic and selected that button on the left side of the screen. She clicked the topic "Throat." There were many throat symptoms, but they were arranged alphabetically so she scrolled down to "dryness of throat without thirst" and pressed the Continue key.

This time the program displayed Lycopodium as the appropriate remedy.

She returned to the search by topic button and selected Mind this time to find a remedy for fear of dark. Mind displayed many symptoms so she scrolled down to "Fears in evening to be alone – dark ghosts" and selected the symptom and then pressed the Continue Key.

The program found Pulsatilla as the appropriate remedy.

The results show all the remedies that could address Sam’s peculiar ailment. To make things easier, the list is arranged by remedy. The remedy Pulsatilla was associated with the most number of symptoms Mom selected.

From there she clicked the REMEDY button on the left and then selected "P" in the index and then clicked on "Pulsatilla" for an informative description of this useful remedy. The case of the after-school aches was cracked, and Mom worked with a homeopathic practitioner to totally alleviate all of Sam’s symptoms.
