Description of cod liver oil
Cod Liver Oil has a history with earlier generations as an unpleasant tasting childhood remedy. The truth is
that this historic remedy is very beneficial for lowering high blood pressure, reducing cholesterol, relieving
symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, thinning the blood, and fighting cancer. By blocking platelets from
collecting in the arteries, cod liver oil, has made a name for itself in the prevention of heart attacks and
heart disease. Found in fresh fish including, cod, tuna, mackerel and salmon cod liver oil has long been
associated with good health. Thankfully, cod liver oil is now available in a capsule in addition to the
notorious original oil but be sure to take your oil or capsule with vitamin E to prevent the oil from spoiling
or later from oxidizing in the body.
Cod Liver Oil should be taken in conjunction with a low fat diet and should be avoided by diabetics
because it may interfere with blood sugar levels. In addition, people on blood thinning drugs should avoid
cod liver oil as it too thins the blood similar to aspirin. Finally, be careful not to take too much since it
contains high amounts of vitamins A and D which are toxic in high doses.
